Week 3.1
Grids and Critique
Monday 12th March
This week we started with a critique of our initial mockups. In my collages, I definitely need to work on layering the imagery as well as creating a distinct style.I also need to consider how text will work with the imagery. An important thing to remember is how imagery creates meaning in a different way to text. It may be hard to understand my current collages as they do not have a clear meaning. It is definitely something to do with dogs, but the meaning and intent is not so clear.
In relation to this, we also started to go back over grids, and how they organise content on the spread. Grids are a very important aspect of design as they guide text and imagery over the page, and help the designer to make an interesting layout. This will definitely help my original compositions have more purpose.
On Thursday we have another critique, but this time of compositions on InDesign. We need to have two subject spreads and another spread - for me it will be sports and recreation.
